Tree service questions, answered
The things Seattle-area homeowners ask us most — straight answers, no runaround.
Are you licensed, insured, and bonded?
Yes — fully. We carry general liability and workers’ compensation on every crew, we’re state-licensed and bonded, and we have ISA-certified arborists on staff. We’re happy to show proof before any work begins. This is the single most important thing to check on any tree company: if a limb drops or someone is hurt on an uninsured crew, it becomes your liability.
Do you offer free estimates?
Always. A certified arborist comes to your property, looks at the tree, the access, and the drop zone, and gives you a firm, no-pressure price — at no charge. For most jobs we can quote on the spot.
How fast can you come out for an emergency?
Our emergency line is staffed 24/7 and we dispatch fast across the greater Seattle area — often the same day for a tree on a home, across a driveway, or tangled in a line. If it’s an active emergency, call us; don’t wait on a form.
Will my homeowner’s insurance cover tree removal?
When a tree hits a covered structure — your house, garage, or fence — homeowner’s policies typically cover removal and repair. We document the job thoroughly and work directly with your adjuster to make the claim as painless as possible. Preventive removal of a healthy tree usually isn’t covered, which is exactly why it’s cheaper to deal with hazards before a storm does.
Do you clean up and haul everything away?
Yes — full cleanup is included on every job. We chip the brush, haul off the wood, and rake the site so you’d never know we were there. If you’d like to keep the chips as mulch or the logs for firewood, just say the word.
Do I need a permit to remove my tree?
It depends on your city, the tree’s size, and where it sits — rules across the region vary and have been getting stricter. We know the local codes, can tell you whether your tree is likely regulated, and provide the arborist assessment cities often require. We’ll walk you through it before any work starts.
Can you remove a tree that’s close to my house or power lines?
That’s our specialty. Trees near structures and lines can’t simply be felled — they come down in controlled sections using proper rigging to protect your roof, fence, and landscaping. It’s exactly the kind of work an uninsured crew should never attempt.
Do you “top” trees to reduce their height?
No — topping permanently damages a tree and creates weak, hazardous regrowth. When you want a tree shorter or safer, we use proper ISA-standard crown reduction and thinning, which reduces height and wind-load without ruining the tree.
