What Moves the Price

Four things that determine your quote

Size & species

Height, trunk diameter, and wood density all move the price. A tall fir is a bigger job than a small ornamental.

Access

Can a truck or crane reach it, or must every limb be climbed and rigged out over a roof? Backyard trees cost more.

Targets & hazard

A tree over your house or near a power line has to come down in controlled sections — slower, and more skilled.

Cleanup & stump

Hauling everything away and grinding the stump is real labor. Ours is included; some “cheap” quotes leave it behind.

A word on “cheap” quotes

Why the lowest bid often costs the most

The lowest quote is frequently an uninsured crew with a rented saw and no workers’ comp. If a limb goes through your roof — or someone is hurt in your yard — that becomes your liability and your claim.

  • Confirm the company is licensed, insured & bonded — and ask to see it
  • Make sure cleanup and haul-away are included in the price
  • Bundle multiple trees into one visit to save on mobilization
  • Handle hazard trees before a storm turns them into an emergency
